Lab Computers Inc. was founded in 1992 as a small computer business. Early on, one of our key clients was a Sears call center that employed many individuals with visual impairments. Lab Computers Inc. was founded in 1992 as a small computer business. Early on, one of our key clients was a Sears call center that employed many individuals with visual impairments. Inspired by this experience, the founder's son began working closely with these individuals and helped guide the company toward a specialized focus on assistive technology for the visually impaired.
In 2000, Lab Computers became the exclusive distributor for HumanWare in Kentucky. Since then, we have steadily grown to become one of HumanWare’s largest distributors, expanding our service area to include Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.
Through our longstanding work with Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation, we recognized that individuals who are blind or visually impaired are often underserved by traditional employment service providers. Vocational Rehabilitation has acknowledged this gap and invited Lab Computers to play a more active role in supporting employment services tailored to this community. We are proud to continue our mission of advancing accessibility, independence, and workforce inclusion for people with visual impairments.
